leathered goods

Oooh, leather.  The durable, sumptuous material that comes straight off the cattle’s back.  Leather has to be one of the most intimidating, luxurious materials in existence and the fact that it’s natural only adds to its cool factor (at least we think so!)  When a gal chooses to dress herself in the indulgent stuff, she clearly ain’t no wallflower.  In fact, she may just be looking for a little bit of trouble, at least that’s the message she’s  hinting at, weather she knows it or not!

Here’s a rundown of the leather infused collections from Spring/Summer 2013.  Our favs are ICB, Proenza Schouler, Sportmax, and Mugler!

Well here you have it for the newest Jil Sander ad Spring 2012 ad campaign.

Jil Sander Spring-2012 Ad Campaign

Huffington Post, among other publications have admitted to be slightly frightened by the new ads, but I’ve never been one to shy away from a little creepy infused fashion.  It stirs more emotions in the viewer, and like they say-no press is bad press.  Photographed by Willy Vanerperre, model Natasha Poly brought on the spook factor to the campaign (same duo worked together for the Proenza Schouler ads).  ALAUU claims it gives her “an eery Hitchcock vibe,” quite a complement in my book!  (I’m a huge Hitchcock fan)  The ads do give off a cinematic vibe that I’m totally digging.  Some critics are saying it seems reminiscent of the Jil Sand ad campaign from 2000…

In terms of the overall styling I feel more innovation from the decade old campaign. When it comes to the actual clothing itself (most important feature in a campaign?) the current ad absolutely speaks to me more, though that’s most likely do to changes in trends over time.

Leathered Goods

The past few seasons, the use of leather seems to have made itself quite comfortable in RTW collections and this Pre-fall 2012 is no exception.

Emporio Armani

Rag & Bone

Rachel Roy

Band of Outsiders

Proenza Schouler

DVF

DKNY

Designers’ ability to take such a severe material and turn into something rather quaint deserves a round of applause in my book!
