The Carpetbagger Takes on Degen S/S 2013

Degen, Spring 2013 Presentation
Knitwear designer Lindsay Degen has succeeded in bringing something new to the table. Her second collection shown at Fashion Week delivered a youthful and carefree vibe that I think we can expect to see from the label here on in.  Bright colored separates and 3-D crocheted details stir up a collection that is fun and spunky.  From the pizza knit berets to the butt placed handprint cutouts, Degen shows reminds us that fashion needn’t be taken too seriously.  More indication Degen is all about a happy go lucky attitude is shown in the models laid back persona.  They’ve clearly been given direction to chill out and sort of just do their own thing.  Some of the girls will sporadically break into jumping jacks, while one of the boys may decide to sing along to the music and dance around.  If it weren’t for the boldly crafted clothing they’re dressed in as a loud reminder, you may forget your at a fashion presentation and think you’re at a party with a bunch of hobos.  With that said, I can’t say I’m not impressed with all the fun that is Degen.  If I were to get my paws on probably any piece of theirs, I’d absolutely covet it.  Don’t think I’d choose to fill my entire wardrobe with pure silliness, but a cheeky cardigan here, a flower stitched tank there?  I would forever treasure.  And I think that’s the point.
